Scott Capelin’s dreams of an Embody gym in Amsterdam appear over

Embody gym founder Scott Capelin’s dreams of expanding his empire overseas were in tatters last night after an Amsterdam hotel took any mention of his new studio off its website.
Capelin outraged members of the luxury fitness studio in Neutral Bay when he liquidated the company leaving investors almost $4 million in debt and then tried to reopen on the same site with the same name a couple of weeks later.
NSW police are now investigating claims by creditors that Capelin used money from the Neutral Bay gym to fund his expansion into Europe.

Before his spectacular downfall Capelin hired TV interior design expert Shaynna Blaze, who designed the glitzy gym in Sydney, to create the luxury new Embody fitness studio in the QO Hotel in Amsterdam.
On her website last year The Block judge wrote: “This visionary space in Neutral Bay was completed in 2016 and a second Embody studio — designed by me is coming to Amsterdam very soon.
“I designed the space in line with the studio’s philosophy: move, nourish, unplug,” she wrote.
Ms Blaze declined to comment to The Saturday Telegraph’s calls but it’s understood the Channel 9 star had been hired to do the design, had been paid and had no other involvement in the gym.
Last night the QO Hotel took down any mention of Embody from its website. A spokesman for the hotel said: “Our hotel is new and some elements are still under construction. The area that will contain our proposed gym is not due to open for some months.
“We are aware of the story concerning Mr. Scott Capelin and we will continue to monitor the situation carefully.”
According to company documents Mr Capelin registered Embody Amsterdam B.V. on May 29 last year as a fitness and health centre.
He is the sole director and shareholder of the European business which is located inside Amsterdam’s QO Hotel.
The hotel is understood to have paid for the glitzy fit-out, with Mr Capelin tasked with running the operational side of the business.
“Scott runs it and takes a share of the profits, that was the arrangement made last year,” a source close to Mr Capelin said.
Creditors have handed liquidator Guy Baxendale and NSW Police detectives copies of eight transactions and invoices totalling almost $80,000 from the Neutral Bay gym that were used to pay for the Amsterdam deal.
Mr Capelin did not respond to The Daily Telegraph’s request for comment.
