Roxy Jacenko’s husband Oliver Curtis to be released from jail

ROXY Jacenko was spotted this morning clutching a Hermes bag in one hand and a Gucci in the other — and no wedding ring. Will she keep her promise to be at the prison gates to collect her husband?

WITH a Hermes Birkin bag in one hand and a Gucci in the other, Roxy Jacenko appeared to be on a shopping trip like any other this morning.

But the designer-loving PR queen was in fact arriving at work ahead of the release of her insider trading husband Oliver Curtis from jail tomorrow.

The 36-year-old, who wasn’t wearing her wedding ring, has promised to be at the prison gates to greet him.

So will she be wearing a Gucci number for the occasion, or were the contents just another PR freebie?

If she is going to make it down in time to Cooma correctional centre, 100km-plus from Canberra, where Curtis has spent the last 12 months, she will likely have to go by charter plane.

But in April, she told the Wentworth Courier that she would ‘definitely be at the prison gates’ with her children.

“Yes. Absolutely [we will be at the gates],” Jacenko said. “The kids are looking forward to having their father back. Remember Pixie hasn’t seen Oli for 12 months, so it’s very important we’re there.”

Jacenko, who says she hasn’t told Pixie, 5, or her younger brother Hunter, 3, their father has been in jail for the past year, said she would still not explain the situation.

“She’ll think she’s picking him up from work. She doesn’t know any different,” she said.

Jacenko praised Curtis’s skills as a dad. “He’s a good guy. He’s a good dad. I can’t fault him in that respect at all. He’s been an amazing father to the children and he’ll come out and he’ll go back to work and his life will resume as an investment banker.”

She did reveal she had resigned as director of Curtis’s company, Encounter Investments, explaining there was no need for her to be involved any more.

“I resigned as a director. I’m a business person. The reality is Oli is coming out, he can sign his own paperwork, I’ve got my own business to run, he doesn’t need me as a signatory anymore.”

Curtis was jailed for a minimum of two years for conspiracy to commit insider trading in a scam worth $1.4m with former best friend John Hartman, but will be released early on a good behaviour bond.

That’s despite a jail fight her husband was involved in earlier this year, which saw him locked down in his jail cell for 24 hours.

Jacenko said it was out of character but would definitely have been because of the intense environment he is in and that it was verbal only, not physical.

“He’s not the kind of person to get into an altercation. When you’re in that environment, it’s a confined space. People are under duress. I come to blows with mum in the office when we work too closely! Who in life doesn’t have disagreements?”

As for looking forward to seeing her husband when he finishes his sentence, she was quick to respond, “It’ll be very nice for him to be home for the children.”
