THE mother of the man beaten to death at Sydney Airport nine years ago by Mick Hawi says the slain bikie figure “got what he deserved”.
Hawi died after being hit by a deluge of bullets fired by one or both hitmen who ambushed him as he sat in a car outside a gym in Rockdale on Thursday.
Fredericka Bromwich, mother of Hells Angel associate Anthony Zervas, told Seven News that Hawi “got what he deserved”.
“Mick Hawi got what he deserved and good on those boys that did it,” she said.
Hawi bludgeoned Zervas in a Sydney Airport brawl in 2009.
“It is karma because what you do in life comes back to haunt you,” she said.
Meanwhile, a strike force has been set up to investigate the gangland murder.
This comes as police prepare to increase security at his funeral next week in fear of potential revenge attacks.
State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad, along with the Homicide Squad and St George Police Area Command detectives, are investigating the brazen daylight assassination under Strike Force Amirs, police announced today.
Detectives have confirmed that the former Comanchero bikie boss had just got into his black Mercedes 4WD after leaving Fitness First gym at Rockdale when he was shot a number of times at close range.

Hawi, 37, died later at St George Hospital.
The gunman fled on foot but is believed to have left the area in a grey Mercedes-Benz station wagon, which was seen turning onto West Botany Street from Lindsay Street shortly after the shooting.
Investigators have also released CCTV which depicts two men in black clothing running away from a Mercedes-Benz, which was on set on fire near Chandler Street, Rockdale, a short time later.

Detectives are today talking to Hawi’s family and friends and associates as well as canvassing the local area and gathering all CCTV footage from businesses and homes.
They are appealing to the community for assistance to identify the men, who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
Investigators are also seeking any vision from dash cams or mobile phones taken yesterday in the vicinity of Chandler and Ashton streets, the Princes Highway, Rockdale Plaza Drive, and the plaza carpark.
Vision can be uploaded here or handed into any police station.
This comes as news that Hawi will be laid to rest in Sydney next week.
It is understood Hawi will be buried in the Muslim section of Rookwood Cemetery.
The Al-Zahra mosque is waiting to find out when the 37-year-old’s body will be released from the morgue following a post-mortem examination.
“That might take two to three days,” mosque spokesman Ibrahim Ghacham said.
“Police will look after the security (for the funeral). We (also) have at least seven or eight security (guards) at the mosque.”
Detectives are worried there could be potential revenge attacks.
