Providoor is back with a new owner

Silvia Colloca has found the next best thing to opening her own restaurant.

The celebrated cookbook author, actor and TV personality is one of several high-profile names to back the new look gourmet food delivery service, Providoor.

“The question I’m always asked is, ‘when are you going to open a restaurant so we can enjoy your food?’” Colloca said.

“Joining forces with Providoor is the closest thing to serving my favourite family recipes to you in the comfort of your home. Some of the most loved dishes from my shows and books will be available to order. It’s almost as if I’m in the kitchen with you.”

Celebrity chefs whip up gourmet service as Providoor returns

Providoor, the gourmet food delivery service that collapsed in April, is back.

It has a new owner, lower prices and a host of celebrity chefs on board.

Sydney’s Sam Benjamin – owner of Rolling Stone Australia and Brag Media – was a customer before buying the business.

“We have developed processes that allow us to prepare, store and finish restaurant quality food in a way that has never been done before,” Benjamin said. “It’s an absolute game-changer to have this many chefs and personalised menus under one banner. It is revolutionary in stepping up the quality of food available to Australians for delivery fresh to their home.”

Celebrity chefs creating menus for Providoor include Luke Nyugen, Gary Mehigan, Matt Preston, Manu Feildel, Justin Narayan and Anna Polyviou. Benjamin has separated the business into two arms – Providoor Frozen and Providoor Local.

For those not wanting to do any cooking at home at all, Benjamin is opening Providoor Local kitchens across Sydney – in Homebush, Five Dock, Neutral Bay and Moore Park – with more to open across the city, as well as Melbourne and Brisbane. Providoor Local will deliver hot food in half an hour.

“Consumers have changed since Covid, some people like to go out and others just really like to be at home,” Polyviou said. “Most importantly, this doesn’t feel like a take-out meal, it is a home cooked meal at your doorstep.”

Former MasterChef winner Narayan noted: “It doesn’t lose any of the quality”.
