NSW Police has conducted a series of raids on the notorious Comanchero bikie gang as part of a national crackdown.
The national day of action on Wednesday against the Comanchero has resulted in NSW Police conducting 15 Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) searches on homes of suspected gang members.
During the searches police found a spring-loaded knife, a replica firearm, steroids and Comanchero OMCG colours and nominee colours.
Officers also served consorting warnings, Australian Taxation Office notices, and outstanding debt notifications.
The searches were part of Operation Morpheus, a national anti-gangs squad project which involves police conducting co-ordinated raids on outlaw motorcycle gangs in all states and territories.
NSW Criminal Groups Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Deborah Wallace, said this was not the first co-ordinated multi-agency operation into criminal groups, and it won’t be the last.
“Law enforcement in Australia have a collaborative approach to targeting OMCG, who operate across borders and across a variety of criminal activities,” Det Supt Wallace said.
“By executing co-ordinated cross-border and cross-jurisdictional operations, we enhance our capabilities to disrupt illicit businesses and the ability for OMCG to impart influence on the wider community.
“The Criminal Groups Squad and Strike Force Raptor have been fearless and relentless in pursuing OMCG and will continue to work closely with local police to disrupt the activities of all criminal groups throughout NSW,” Det Supt Wallace said.
