“We’re appealing for anyone who has any information in regards to the incident that occurred … or may have been in the vicinity at about 5.20 on Sunday afternoon.”

Police described Mr Krivosic as a 27-year-old male, ranging from 170 to 175cms with olive complexion and solid build.

Police confirmed the two gunmen who fled the scene are still on the run.

George Nassif was battling to overcome his drug problems so he could see his four children again before he was shot in the back after answering a knock at the door.

Nassif’s best friend Bob told The Daily Telegraph Nassif had battled with drugs in the past but had recently thrived at an intense Coffs Harbour rehabilitation program with the hope of seeing his four children who had moved interstate.

“He’d done the rehab, it was all for his kids,” Bob said.

“I just spoke to him yesterday morning.

“I have a farm, I said I’ll come and get you … and we’re going to the farm. If only he had come with me.

“He killed the rehab. He was 125kg, you’d think he’s not going to finish it, he did.

“And he got his licence back.”

When the Daily Telegraph contacted the Krivosic family home in Liverpool, a woman believed to be his mother said she had not seen Marko for several days.

“Marko... I don’t know. No been here for two, maybe three days,” she said.
