POLICE are on the hunt for a pizza shop bandit they say is responsible for five armed robberies, including the shooting of a 21-year-old Domino’s employee on Sunday.
Strike Force Tintaldra detectives today released a grainy CCTV image of the man they suspect shot 21-year-old Anand Singh in the chest and hand as staff were counting the night’s takings at the Wentworthville Domino’s about 1.45am yesterday.
The shooter is still at large and wanted over armed robberies of a Canley Vale restaurant on November 20, and pizza shops at Fairfield East on December 9, Strathfield on December 14 and North Strathfield on December 17.
Tintaldra was set up by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad to investigate links between the exceptionally similar robberies.
They discovered the man looked similar on all available CCTV images and on each occasion entered through the rear door of the premises before demanding cash at gunpoint.
Desperate for a clearer image of the man, detectives have called for motorists who may have dash-cam vision from these areas during the late-night robberies, to come forward.
“Detectives are appealing for anyone who may know the man depicted in the vision, or motorists who may have been in the area with dash cam vision relevant to the investigation, to come forward,” police said in a statement.
Mr Singh said the man fired four shots as he attempted to shield his co-workers, then stumbled through Wentworthville train station to the police station to get help.
“I straightaway said to my friends “run” and they start running,” Mr Singh told reporters from his hospital bed.
