A FIRED-UP lesbian confronted Immigration Minister Peter Dutton in a Canberra restaurant this week over his stance on same-sex marriage.
On Tuesday, Kristy-Lee Tyrrell, 33, a domestic violence worker who was on a union-organised trip to Canberra, interrupted Mr Dutton as he dined in an Italian restaurant in Manuka and demanded he declare his position on same-sex marriage.
Ms Tyrrell defended her actions, saying she was sick of politicians not revealing their position.
“If you have a political platform and you are making policies that have such a heavy impact on my life, I am entitled to confront you in public and ask you to elaborate,” Ms Tyrrell said.
Ms Tyrrell said the Immigration Minister was “dismissive” and told her he had been clear that he was against same-sex marriage and was just trying to enjoy his dinner.
Ms Tyrell, who has a toddler with her long term partner, replied: “Well, I’m just trying to enjoy my life”, before wishing Dutton well.
Mr Dutton refused to comment on the incident but confirmed he still supported holding a plebiscite on same-sex marriage.
