A CRUISE ship passenger has described the wild scenes aboard a P&O party boat packed with buck’s night revellers that ended in a violent brawl on the high seas off Sydney.
The mayhem began during a queue for the toilets aboard the the P&O Pacific Explorer on Saturday night when a row broke out between two groups of party-goers.
During the fight, a 21-year-old man was struck on the head with an empty wine bottle by a woman, causing a laceration.
Security was called in to break up the fight and the ship forced to turn back to Sydney where police boarded the liner at Bradley’s Head and took a woman and a group of men away for questioning.
Passenger Natalie Frederick said that a fight broke out between two men, before one was allegedly hit with a bottle.
“There was blood everywhere, it was pouring out of his face. He had a towel to his head, and it was soaked.”
Another cruise patron, Michelle Creevey, said that a number of people were involved in the melee.
“There were punches being thrown all over, security had to work very hard to get it under control.”
A 37-year-old Russian woman has since been charged with reckless wounding and affray.
“When the police turned up, we knew it was for the idiots,” added another passneger.
“It’s not really one for families, it’s young people keen to drink and have fun,” he said.
It wasn’t the first fight on board the ship, he said.
“There was pushing and shoving every night, there was a kerfuffle earlier that night but I think it was a different group.”
