A war memorial has been vandalised in an Anzac commemorative site in Tamworth.

Police have asked for witnesses to come forward after an Anzac memorial was damaged by vandals.

A veteran's name on the War Memorial Gates was destroyed in damage done to the memorial by vandals. The gates stand at the entrance to ANZAC Park in East Tamworth.

A recall was issued for Dairy Farmer’s Full Cream milk manufactured in NSW on Thursday after concerns a Penrith manufacturing site may have been contaminated with the bacteria.

E.coli is known to cause food poisoning and produce symptoms like vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain and fever.

A travel ban preventing Chinese visitors from entering Australia may be extended as part of the federal government's response to the coronavirus.

“The current ban extends to this weekend and we will be consider those issues on the best medical advice,” the prime minister told reporters in Canberra on Thursday, ahead of a meeting of the national security committee of cabinet.

He said the virus – now officially known as COVID-19 – is being contained in Australia thanks to the “tremendous advice” of the nation’s Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy.
