In an embarrassing result for NSW Police who have been strictly enforcing the state’s new social distancing laws, the two officers were among five people fined for attending the birthday party inside the Meriton suites on Sussex St on Saturday night.
Sydney City officers patrolling King St noticed a woman who appeared to be intoxicated being helped by a man.

The woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment then released around 2am Sunday.

Police began looking into the pair’s movement that night and established the 27-yer-old woman, who was a senior constable from the Police Transport Command, and the 31-year-old man had been at a social gathering.
They discovered a 27-year-old senior constable attached to the Fairfield City command had also been at the party in the Meriton apartment, along with two other women aged 28 and 31.

Today police issued $1000 fines to all five individuals for failing to comply with noticed direction under the Public Health Act.
The state’s tight social distancing measures have banned social gatherings of more than two people.
