RABBITOHS star Sam Burgess has copped a backlash after he apparently filmed his wife singing in the car — while he was driving.
Police and the Minister for Roads yesterday said it was “dangerous” and the NRL player “should know better”, while fans were also quick to condemn it as a “#StupidAct”.
“Yeah, that’s pretty clever doing that while driving ... good for the young followers of yours to see,” one person wrote after Burgess posted the 15-second video to Instagram.
The clip has since been taken down.
It showed Burgess’s wife Phoebe singing while sitting in the passenger seat of a moving car.
The video, which seems to have been shot from the driver’s seat, pans around to show Burgess — apparently holding the camera while the reflection in his sunnies appears to show his hand on the steering wheel.
A spokeswoman yesterday said NSW Police were aware of the video.
NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay said Burgess should “know better”.
“Using your mobile phone while driving endangers you, your family and other innocent road users — keep your hand off it,” he said.
Burgess could not be contacted and the Rabbitohs did not respond to requests for comment yesterday.
