POMS love a fried egg — so it was a no-brainer when English NRL enforcer Sam Burgess had to have one on his first signature burger.

The South Sydney pin-up yesterday whipped up his Burgess Burger, which will be sold exclusively at Ribs & Burgers, deep inside Bunnies’ heartland at Westfields Eastgardens.

“I just cooked one then and it was pretty good,” Burgess said. “I like eggs on everything, it’s good.”

It’s not just the egg that’s giving this one a bit of beefy Brit flavour — there’s onion relish and a splash of HP sauce.

Despite having one of the most impressive physiques in rugby league, the 116kg forward allowed himself to devour one of his own burgers yesterday at the Eastgardens store, where the neon sign will even be changed to “Ribs & Burgess” for the week.

Slammin’ Sam said he would convince teammate Greg Inglis and coach Michael Maguire to sample one. Burgess hopes to overcome an ankle injury to play against an embattled Parramatta next Friday.
