Video: North shore man Ronald Weaver found after days in Wahroonga bush

A four-day-long search for an elderly man with Alzheimer’s disease has ended in joy, as rescuers found him in bushland at Wahroonga. SEE THE VIDEO OF HIS RESCUE.

An elderly north shore man has been found after a harrowing four days in the bush.

Ronald Weaver, 79, was found trapped between trees by NSW State Emergency Services volunteers about 11.30am in North Wahroonga, ending a nervous week for his family.

“He was in good spirits and was showing signs and being able to hold rescuers’ hands at the time,” Acting Superintendent Carlene Mahoney said.

Mr Weaver was spotted by SES volunteers scouring the scrub for him.

“I saw him out of the corner of my eye just like a shape over in the tree that looked a bit odd so I went over and saw what it was and shout to the boys and here we are,” SES volunteer Andy Kelsey said

His family pleaded this week for people to be on the look out for Ronald.

“When I got to talk to him I said ‘g’day how you doing’ and he was quite lucid.

“He was relieved and pleased.”

It comes after multiple police units and government agencies launched a frantic land and air search for Mr Weaver on Tuesday.

Ronald was taken to hospital shortly after.

As days went by police and emergency services were concerned about Mr Weaver’s whereabouts because he has Alzheimer’s disease.

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park was the main point of focus until he was found on Friday.

He was last seen in Woolcott Ave, Wahroonga by his family.

In an emotional plea his wife Hannah said he was “a good person”.

“Please, please help to locate Ron,” she said at the time.

“He remembers his name, even though he doesn’t remember his date of birth.”
