Named: Yugi Harada charged over alleged robbery of Sydney CBD jeweller Silva & Goldy

A man was on bail when he allegedly robbed a Sydney CBD jewellery store this week, police have told a court.

Police claim a man was on bail when he allegedly robbed a Sydney CBD jewellery store earlier this week.

Documents tendered to Parramatta Bail Court allege that on June 10 Yugi Harada threatened a staff member at the Silva & Goldy jewellery store on Pitt St, forcing them to open a safe, and took 13 trays of jewellery.

Police arrived at the scene at 4.40pm, after the robber fled the scene.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene and, following investigations, executed a search warrant on a unit on Kellick St, Waterloo about 10.50am on Friday.

Police allege Harada arrived at the unit mid-search and immediately ran away.

Police seized 42 rings, a Glock pistol, identification documents with numerous names, and a packet of BB gun pellets from the unit.

Harada returned to the premises later on Friday and was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station.

He was charged with one count robbery and breach of bail.

Harada had previously been granted bail for unrelated charges last year, including aggravated assault with intent to rob and use corporal violence.

On Saturday, his matter was briefly mentioned at Parramatta Bail Court where his appearance was not required and he did not apply for bail.

Harada’s bail was formally revoked to be remanded in police custody until his next court appearance.

His matter is due to return to Downing Centre Local Court on June 24.
