One hint on social media could hold the answers to the tennis star’s relationship status.

Kyrgios delivers message to his girlfriend after cryptic ‘cheater’ post

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios is still following his girlfriend on social media despite suggestions the pair have called time on their relationship.

Chiara Passari is one of just 155 people on the list of people the world number 47 follows on Instagram despite rumours the couple have broken up with a fiery war of words erupting on the social media site.

Kyrgios and Passari began dating in July 2020 when he returned to his home town of Canberra in the midst of the global pandemic.

Friends say the relationship has been volatile for some time.

Earlier this week, The Daily Telegraph revealed Passari, who has set her Instagram account as private, launched a social media tirade against Kyrgios.

First, she posted an image of herself laughing courtside, captioning the picture: “Laughing at myself for believing a….” with the rest of the sentence crossed out.

Passari then shared another image on her Instagram story, revealing a quick fire text exchange with Kyrgios where the tennis player allegedly called her “disgusting” before telling her to enjoy her hometown of Canberra “for the rest of your life”.

“Bye … hahaha you got a dude there,” Kyrgios wrote in the screenshot. “You disgust me … enjoy your life.”

Passari fired back with “You just told me everything without even knowing,” to which Kyrgios replied “Good luck. Be in Canberra the rest of your life … hahaha”.

It follows an earlier post from Passari where she wrote about “scammers”.

Her Instagram biography now reads “trust yourself … no one else”.

Australian Open 2020: Nadal and Kyrgios’ blockbuster match

Passari supported Kyrgios through the Australian Open in Melbourne, attending his matches and seen in his story on a video call with the tennis star, who later thanked her alongside his family for supporting him at the event.

Of the relationship, one friend noted: “She always posts about their relationship troubles,” the friend observed. “Then a day later they’re back on. It is messed up.”

And on February 17, following Valentine’s Day, Passari posted a happy snap of the two together.

“I have learnt a lot and am also learning a lot about myself since meeting you,” she wrote. “There will always be struggles but as long as that magic and those unforgettable experiences are there it’s all worth it. Happy belated Valentine’s. I love you.”

The pair were last seen together publicly on February 12 when Passari cheered Kyrgios on from the stands as he bowed out of the Australian Open.

He then posted a final affectionate image of his then-girlfriend with flowers and champagne for Valentine’s Day two days later, promising “many more” romantic days and to “care and love” her.

“It’s been a rollercoaster eight months. I want you to know that I’m incredibly thankful and blessed to have you by my side putting up with me and supporting me,” Kyrgios wrote.

“Hope that I can make you feel special and give you everything you deserve. I’m so lucky to have you in my life … to many more Valentine’s days – and hopefully next time I can win a match if you come watch me play.”

Earlier this week it seemed both had unfollowed each other on Instagram.

He is now following her again with a source suggesting they are back together.

The latest on their relationship follows weeks of speculation about the couple, including where Passari was seen leaning away while Kyrgios tried to kiss her in the stands during the Australian Open broadcast.

Today, Kyrgios shared a number of stories to Instagram, as well of himself in a swimming pool in the Bahamas with the caption: “soon”.
