Just five months ago four-year-old Flo was singing, playing with her bunnies and riding her scooter.
Then the insidious brain cancer took a firm, evil hold.
On Friday night little Flo succumbed to DIPG, dying peacefully in the arms of her mum and dad and surrounded by those she loved.
“If you look up to the sky tonight you will see it’s a little brighter as there is now a new star resting high above our house,” Flo’s dad Cameron Turner said.
The Newcastle dad and his wife Michelle knew this day was coming but that doesn’t make the pain any less.
“Flo passed away today after her 13-month battle with cancer, surrounded by love, in her mummy and daddy’s arms and showered in rainbows from the autumn sun warmly beaming through the louvred windows,” Mr Turner said.
For the past month Flo had been in a peaceful coma, “a bubble that we thought might somehow last forever”.
The couple managed to keep little Flo comfortable in her own home and for three months longer than they thought possible.
“It was an honour to care for her and continue to make her dreams come true each day and stay in that four-year old mind – where only joy and passion exists,” Mr Turner said.
“We’ve promised to live in that same mindset and love one another fiercely just as we loved Flo and she loved us.”
