A new cartel has made an apparent play for power over Sydney’s underworld by issuing an ominous text message to “track down” rivals in the city’s lucrative drug market.

Calling themselves “Cártel de Sydney Nueva Generación” (CSNG), or Sydney New Generation Cartel, the group issued a lengthy message over an encrypted app last week to other unknown underworld figures.

The message was sent in a similar fashion to those issued in recent years by “The Commission”, a cartel overseen by the Comanchero bikie gang.

Underworld sources said they were aware of the message, but despite suspicions could not be certain who sent it.

Like many messages sent by The Commission, the recent note focused on pushing up drug prices and included a reference to the growing influence of Colombian gangs in Sydney, warning that if the drug price continues to be “undercut” Australians will start smoking “crack” cocaine - which they said “we as Australians do not accept”.

“With everything happening in the underworld use (you) have made alliances with Australian authorities to bring prices down to set up everyone,” the message read.

“Use (you) will be tracked down...

“Prices will slowly start creeping up to the standard[s] (of) past markets. It (drug supply) will dry up in coming times to restore order to the boys who are hustling to make a earn.

“We will look after everyone from the top to the bottom who are with us, like a brotherhood, to make good earns. There will be no brazen violence unless they cross us and get in (between) our business ethics.”

“We are also open to mak(ing) partners, mak(ing) alliances with difference criminal groups from around the world including Narcos from South America and Mafias from Europe and around (the) globe as well.”

The apparent group’s name seems to have been taken from the world renowned Mexican cartel “Jalisco New Generation Cartel” or CJNG.

NSW Police sources said they could not confirm the validity of the text message.

The apparent message comes at a time of heightened tension and uncertainty on Sydney’s streets following the recent overseas detentions of key underworld figures Hakan Ayik and Bilal Haouchar, in Turkey and Lebanon respectively.

It also comes just a few months after the assassination of bikie Alen Moradian, a leading member of The Commission, at Bondi Junction.

The message appeared to take a swipe at members of the underworld living overseas, who they accused of “sitting on the sidelines”, while also making mention of drug rips which have caused tensions on Sydney’s streets.

“And to those ... waiting overseas in luxury for sh** to go down, and sitting on the sidelines waiting for a[n] opportunity to take over use (you) have got it all wrong, times have changed,” it read.

“Current old timers importers, boys/hustlers of Australia who have had success in the past and present, use (you) will have a opportunity to join our cause and everything will run smoothly guaranteed.”
