Penrith Panthers captain Nathan Cleary will remember his team’s 2021 Premiership win forever after getting a huge tattoo to commemorate the victory.
The star playmaker shared his new ink on Instagram on Monday, thanking the tattoo studio which did it.
The large piece is of a panther, with the word champs and 2021 underneath it.
Positioned on the left side of his ribs, it would have been painful to have done.
It is another step away from Cleary’s previous clean-cut image after getting in strife for treating the premiership trophy in a disrespectful manner.
Cleary was fined $7000 for acting contrary to the best interests of the game when he was photographed on social media acting in a disrespectful manner toward the premiership trophy.
“The notice alleges the premiership trophy was damaged at a club awards night and although not personally responsible for the damage, the players subsequently treated the trophy in a manner which showed disrespect towards the individuals depicted in the iconic moment memorialised on the trophy,” the NRL said at the time.
The sculpture of Summons and Provan was separated from the base of the trophy as the Panthers players celebrated their premiership victory over South Sydney.
