Penrith: Woman dies in car crash in Llandilo, after two die on Wednesday at Emu Plains, Mt Tomah and Blaxland crashes

A third person has died on roads in Sydney’s west in less than 24 hours, after a woman was killed in a collision with a truck on Tuesday morning.

A woman has been killed in a crash with a truck near Penrith on Tuesday morning, the third person to die on roads in Sydney’s west in less than 24 hours.

The female driver of the car died at the scene of the accident which happened at around 7.30am on The Northern Rd, near Spinks Rd, Llandilo.

The male driver of the truck suffered injuries and was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from nepean Police Area Command and the Crash Investigation Unit, have established a crime scene and begun an investigation into what happened.

A resident living on The Northern Rd, who did not wish to be named, said she had witnessed several fatalities and “dozens of accidents” along the dangerous stretch.“This part of the road at Llandilo is a real black spot, cars and trucks career off the road here regularly, and we have seen one too many deaths just outside our door,” she said.

Meanwhile The Northern Rd is closed and traffic diversions are in place.

It follows the deaths of two people on Monday in a horror day on the roads in western Sydney.

A man in his 70s died in a crash at Mt Tomah before a pedestrian was hit and killed at Blaxland shortly after 2pm.

Just an hour and a half later a motorcyclist crashed into a telegraph pole on Punt Rd, near Emu Hall, in Emu Plains.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Monday’s carnage started around 10.30am when eight ambulance crews, an ambulance helicopter and a CareFlight helicopter were called to Bells Line Road at Mt Tomah.

One man died and multiple people were left injured after they were found trapped following a crash between a truck and car.

There were two people in the truck – a male driver in his 60 who was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition and a female passenger who was taken to Nepean Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the car, a man in his 70s, died at the scene. The female passenger in the car, who was trapped for some time, was released and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition with chest injuries.

“Police, SES and Paramedics worked together with the helicopter critical care teams to stabilise the injured persons that were trapped in the truck and motor vehicle,” said Chief Inspector Brian Pursell from NSW Ambulance.

“It’s always a tragedy when someone loses their life on the road and our thoughts go out to the driver’s family and friends.

“It’s a sombre reminder that things can change quickly when you’re driving and with more people on the road as restrictions continue to ease, we ask you to please take care,” Mr Pursell said.

About 2.20pm emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Blaxland following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a truck.

The 20-year-old woman was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.

The driver, a 54-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He was then taken to Katoomba Police Station, where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

Around 3.30pm emergency services were called to Punt Rd, near Emu Hall, in Emu Plains, where a motorcyclist had hit a telegraph pole.

Multiple crews were sent as well as the CareFlight helicopter, according to a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

Paramedics treated a man in his 30s for arm, leg and head injuries. He is said to be in a serious condition.

Paramedics worked on the man at the scene for several minutes and a tarpaulin was set up around him.

He was taken to hospital by road ambulance just before 4.30pm.
