A Western Sydney teacher killed in a devastating truck crash on a rural road on Tuesday morning has been remembered as a fun-loving, dedicated and kind woman.
Bede Polding teacher, Gemma Thompson, died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at The Northern Rd, near Spinks Rd, Llandilo outside Penrith around 7.30am on November 2.
A Catholic Education Office, Diocese of Parramatta spokeswoman confirmed to NewsLocal the teacher died as a result of the crash.
“Bede Polding College staff member Gemma Thompson lost her life in a car accident this morning,” she said.
Principal Mark Compton said the school is “devastated by the tragic loss”.
“Gemma was a generous, vibrant and dynamic young woman who loved teaching and was loved by her students and colleagues,” Mr Compton said.
“This is a very sad day for our College community.”
The teacher was well-known throughout the school community, previously graduating from the college before teaching there for the past two years.
“Counsellors have been at the school today to support both students and staff, and will remain at the school this week,” Mr Compton said.
NSW Police continued their investigations into the fatality on Tuesday afternoon.
“As inquiries continue, anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact police immediately,” a spokeswoman said. “A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”
