They’re adorable and goofy, but they don’t have names.
The lively 14-week-old twin lion cubs born at Mogo Wildlife Park on the south coast in November are a big hit with human visitors and are already a bit of trouble for dad as their personalities already shine through.
“The one with darker spots, he’s far more independent and the lighter one loves to stick close to mum,” their keeper Chad Stapes told The Daily Telegraph.
“They’re at that perfect age now and people just love them.
They’re adorable, they do goofy stuff, they fall over and they play together.
“Especially because they’re two boys, they’ve started rough-housing.
They wrestle, play and chase. But of course because they’re so little and uncoordinated, they’ll fall over and trip. Just all of that fun stuff you see from babies.”
Dad Baaku isn’t safe from their shenanigans as Mr Staples says the boys often try to bite their old man’s tail.
“It’s just a special time and you get stuck there for a long time each day. It’s hard to get work done,” he said.
Despite having hand reared their half-sister Maji from birth, Mr Staples is happy to leave the boys with their mum Evelyn and Baaku.
“Maji’s mum had died during childbirth so I had to quickly step in but absolutely the plan is for the boys to stay with mum. She can do a way better job than I can,” he said.
These two beautiful boys are in need of names and the Mogo Wildlife Park is encouraging Daily Telegraph readers to come up with suggestions.
“Naming is hard and it’s kind of why we’re happy to do this. But let’s not call one of them Simba,” he said.
