Mick Hawi murder accused met with top ranking Lone Wolf bikie in jail 10 days before execution

POLICE will allege bikie Hassan “Faks” Fakhreddine was approached to help resolve a dispute between Mahmoud “Mick” Hawi and a Sydney property developer. Weeks later the man accused of killing Hawi visited him in jail.

RAW: Men arrested in Sydney for NSW bikie boss Hawi's murder

ONE of the men accused of murdering former crime kingpin Mahmoud “Mick” Hawi met with a high-ranking fellow bikie from the Lone Wolf gang in jail just 10 days before the brazen daylight execution.

Hassan “Faks” Fakhreddine organised the meeting with alleged killer Adam Doudar while on remand for charges stemming from an international drug and tobacco syndicate allegedly involving members of the Ibrahim family.

Police will allege Fakhreddine, who went by the names Blacknight or Fraka on his encrypted BlackBerry, was approached in January this year by a third party to help resolve a dispute between Hawi and a Sydney property developer in January.

It is understood a female relative of the developer was also involved in the approach to Fakhreddine.

There is no suggestion Fakhreddine ordered Hawi’s murder and police have not charged him in relation to it.

Police allege former Comanchero bikie chief Hawi’s dispute with the developer was a hot topic of conversation for Fakhreddine during daily phone calls from Cessnock Correctional Centre between January 18 and February 2.

But the phones went cold in February after he allegedly instructed others “not to talk about it over the telephone and that it should be discussed in person during a visit”, police said in a statement of allegations recently tendered in court.

On February 4, Doudar went to visit Fakhreddine in Cessnock jail.

“Adam Doudar was nominated as the person who would assist with the problem between Hawi and the parties,” police allege.

“An initial fee of $40,000 was discussed as a preliminary payment to Doudar to resolve the issue.”

It is not known if any payment was ever made.

Ten days after the meeting, Hawi was murdered in broad daylight by a gunman who peppered him with bullets at he sat in his luxury Mercedes 4x4 outside Rockdale Fitness First.

Doudar and Yusuf Nazlioglu, another Lone Wolf member, were last month charged with Hawi’s murder after detectives attached to Strike Force Amirs pieced together thousands of hours of security footage and allegedly found Nazlioglu’s DNA on a balaclava found in a getaway car.

Yusuf Nazlioglu was also charged with Hawi’s murder.

Fakhreddine, of Arncliffe, has been in custody since one of Australia’s biggest organised crime stings netted the two brothers and the son of Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim.

The 37-year-old was one of more than 20 people arrested in August last year in Sydney and Dubai who police allege were connected to an international syndicate that tried to import 900,000 packets of cigarettes as well as 1.9 tons of MDMA, 136kg of cocaine and 15kg of ice into Australia.

The Daily Telegraph has previously revealed that Hawi became involved in a construction dispute sometime in 2016.

“During the settlement process, Hawi and others become involved to ‘mediate’. The civil dispute was resolved in 2017, however Hawi demanded a fee for his involvement,” police allege.

Police further allege that the Sydney property developer, who cannot be identified, paid Hawi $200,000 but that the former bikie boss believed $300,000 more was owed to him.

This became the source of animosity between the pair throughout 2017 and into January this year.

When the Telegraph approached the property developer in June he said he had “absolutely nothing” to do with Hawi’s murder.

After Doudar and Nazlioglu were arrested it was revealed they had met with high-ranking Comanchero Ali Bazzi in the lead up to the alleged murder.

Bazzi is a confidante of Mark Buddle, who took over the gang after Hawi was jailed for the manslaughter of a Hells Angels bikie during a brawl at Sydney airport in 2009.

Police obtained CCTV footage allegedly showing Doudar and Nazlioglu walking with Bazzi along the Opera House concourse on the night of February 12.

Earlier that day, Doudar and Nazlioglu were observed in a black Toyota Prado driving past the Rockdale Fitness First, where Hawi’s black Mercedes 4WD was parked outside.

The Telegraph does not suggest Bazzi was involved in Hawi’s murder.

Doudar and Nazlioglu remain in custody and will next face court on October 11.
