Melissa Caddick’s husband has been forced to downgrade to driving a hired Hyundai i130 after his luxury Audi R8 V10 was seized by liquidators to repay his fraudster wife’s debts.

Music producer and hairdresser Anthony Koletti has told friends he’s “ashamed” to be seen driving the white hire car after calling liquidators to complain when they seized his wife’s luxury car for auction insisting it belonged to him and not the con woman who disappeared after a raid by Federal Police investigating finance fraud.

“He said it’s an embarrassment, he’s ashamed to be seen in a hire car and says Melissa never stole any money from clients and never spent any on him so why should he lose everything,” a source close to Mr Koletti said.

Mr Koletti reportedly contacted liquidators Jones Partners to complain the 2016 Audi R8 V10 supercar cost, which about $400,000 brand new, was his and not his wife’s.

Pickles Auctions are poised to auction the car and a Mercedes-AMG CLA45 wagon, both registered to Ms Caddick’s private company Maliver Pty Ltd, on February 21.

Both cars which in six years have clocked up 24,000kms and 33,000kms respectively, have given Ms Caddick’s conned 70 investors hope of receiving a fraction of the $24 million they collectively lost after investing in her Ponzi scheme.

The Audi and Mercedes, believed to be Ms Caddick’s run-around in Sydney, are expected to fetch more than $200,000 and $43,000 respectively at live online auction.

Federal police investigating finance fraud in 2020 raided Ms Caddick’s Dover Heights mansion on an anonymous tip off and hours later she disappeared from her home. An extensive search failed to locate her and 13 weeks later her partial remains were found washed-up at Bournda Beach, near Tathra, by passers-by.

After the unlicensed financial adviser’s disappearance and presumed death in 2020, her company was put under the control of liquidators.

They were tasked with recovering funds stolen by Caddick from more than 70 victims including close friends and family who thought they were investing in the stock market.

Ms Caddick’s five-bedroom family home in Dover Heights, which she bought for $6.2 million in 2014, is also expected to go on the market in the coming months.

Liquidator Bruce Gleeson said the liquidation of Ms Caddick’s assets was a critical step towards reimbursing the many victims of her Ponzi scheme.

“This is an important step in commencing the asset realisation process in the liquidation,“ he said.

“We are also advancing other efforts, including recovering potential tax refunds as part of the Liquidation.“

A court hearing last year heard Ms Caddick misappropriated investors’ money over a period of eight years to buy real estate, luxury goods, and holidays.

The fraudster sent her clients fictitious portfolio evaluations through her boutique financial services company Maliver.

Before her death, she faced 38 charges, including multiple counts of fraud and falsely claiming she had a financial services licence.

Mr Gleeson said Ms Caddick’s harbour-front Dover Heights home along with another property owned by the family in Edgecliff would “soon” be ready for liquidation.
