The COVID curve might be flattening but face masks are here to stay as a 2020 fashion staple.
International brands including Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton have opened fashionable cloth mask production lines while other high-end retailers including Fendi offered luxury designer masks for $330 a pop before customers cleared out their stock.
Thousands of independent sellers and manufacturers are continuing to sell masks to eager buyers online.
Fashion stylist and expert Donny Galella said brands both big and small were “evolving” to help people stay safe and stylish. “It’s great to see how businesses have pivoted, look at any big brand and everyone’s done their version of the masks from Gucci to Moschino,” Mr Galella said.

Celebrities like pop singer Lizzo have debuted the “pankini”, a printed bikini complete with matching pandemic gloves and mask.
Australian model Jessica Hart has posed wearing a leather Louis Vuitton mask while singer Miley Cyrus was spotted wearing a Gucci mask.
Social researcher Claire Madden said Aussies had shifted and wearing masks was “the new normal”.
