Logies 2020: TV Week Logie Awards cancelled amid coronavirus

The pause button has been pressed on TV’s night of nights until 2021 with global restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic making it impossible to stage the event.

Tom Gleeson's Logies take over

The Logies are the latest event to fall prey to COVID-19 with TV’s annual night of nights paused until 2021.

Bauer Media, the publisher of the Logies’ main sponsor TV Week, announced yesterday the June 28 celebration would be cancelled this year after “weeks” of consultation with organisers around COVID-19 restrictions.

Publisher of Bauer’s weekly titles Fiona Connolly said the televised event at Star Casino on the Gold Coast will return “even bigger” in 2021

“All parties agree the most positive outcome is to not hold the TV WEEK Logies, including public voting, in 2020, but to stage an even bigger event on the Gold Coast in 2021,” Ms Connolly said.

The 2021 Logies will “take into consideration” the past 12 months of television up and any programs that air during the rest of 2020.
