A man charged with trying to cover up the murder of western Sydney teenager Jason Galleghan is allegedly on the run, with a warrant now issued for his arrest and a manhunt underway.

Rebyll Oaariki, 24, was recently charged with concealing a serious indictable offence – murder – in relation to the 16-year-old’s violent death at a home in Doonside in August.

Oaariki was due to face Blacktown Local Court last Thursday but never showed, leading Magistrate Brian van Zuylen to issue an arrest warrant.

Five days on and police have issued an appeal for anyone with information about Oaariki’s whereabouts to come forward.

Known to frequent the Blacktown, Mt Druitt, Penrith and St Marys areas, he is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, between 170cm-175 cm tall, of medium build, black hair, and brown eyes.

Anyone with information relating to his whereabouts is urged to not approach him but contact Triple-0.

Eleven people have so far been charged over Jason’s death, with some of them children and unable to be named.

Three adults – Richard Sione, 32, Stacey Pale, 36, and Kayla Dawson, 19 – are all charged with murder.

Jason’s mum, Rachel Galleghan, has previously said she could not believe her son is dead.

“This is still something that I can’t believe has happened, I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I will never see my precious son Jason again, and that his life was taken at the age of 16,” Ms Galleghan said.

“Jason was such a kind person with such a happy spirit; he was loving and generous and helpful to his sisters and to his family and friends.

“I was so proud of the young man that Jason was, I couldn’t have asked for more in a son. It is just so utterly devastating and heartbreaking that his future was taken away from him far too soon.”
