A MAN has died and another is critical condition after the luxury car they were travelling in smashed into the back of a tow truck on a highway in Sydney’s south overnight.
Just after 11pm emergency services responded to Foreshaw Rd about 30 metres before Hale St, Botany, after reports that a car had collided with the back of a truck.

On arrival police found the wrecked white BMW which had been spun around by the force of the collision, landing on the median strip and scattering debris across the road.
The front of the BMW was mangled beyond recognition with the bumper, bonnet and other front parts of the car wedged beneath the rear wheels of the green tow truck which sat in the northbound lane.
It is understood the passenger side of the vehicle bore the brunt of the impact, and the person sitting on that side was pronounced dead at the scene.
Southbound lanes of Foreshore Ave were immediately closed as a team of over half a dozen paramedics worked frantically to save the driver.
He was loaded onto an ambulance and taken to hospital while police and firefighters examined the devastating scene.
The driver of the truck sat in the back of a police cruiser with his foot dangling out of the door for awhile, before being escorted Botany Bay police away from the scene.
Foreshore Ave was closed between General Holmes Dr and Botany Rd as crash investigators took control of the scene and the extensive clean-up began.
“We have fire extinguishers and stuff so we pulled over in case it caught fire,” a truck driver, who arrived at the scene moments after the crash, said.
“We saw some smoke but no fire and we just put out some cones and just sat here to help if we could.”
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
