Man arrested over drug supply at Midnight Mafia Music Festival
A 20-year old man has been charged following an investigation into drug supply at the Midnight Mafia Music festival earlier this month. More than 160 festival-goers sought medical treatment at the event with paramedics taking nine people to hospital, six for drug overdoses.
A man has been charged after allegedly smuggling MDMA into a Western Sydney dance party for on-supply earlier this month.
Officers conducted a police operation at The Midnight Mafia Music Festival at Sydney Showground on Saturday 11 May 2019.
More than 8000 people attended the festival, a hard style electronic music event which ran from 10pm to 6am.
More than 160 festival-goers sought medical treatment at the event with paramedics taking nine people to hospital, six of those for drug overdoses.
The festival saw a large scale police operation, with officers and drug detection dogs searching 272 people and arresting 32 of them on drug offences.
Two men – both aged 21 – were previously arrested and charged. They remain before the courts.
Following further investigations by police, a 20-year-old man was arrested at a home at Kellyville Ridge just before 8am today.
Police will allege in court that the man took more than 200 MDMA capsules into the event and on-supplied the drugs to the other two men, and other patrons.
The man has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 17 June 2019.
Investigations are continuing, and similar operations will be conducted at future events.
