Man arrested after allegedly firing bow and arrows from Randwick home

POLICE have seized a compound bow after arresting a shirtless man who was allegedly firing arrows from the front yard of a home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

A SHIRTLESS man brandishing a high-powered hunting bow shot arrows into a construction site in the middle of a busy road in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Just after 12pm police were notified that a man was roaming Carrington Rd, Randwick with a weapon and had fired at a mobile crane and a fence.

Shocking video footage has now emerged showing the man, wearing only jeans and sneakers, weaving between cars to cross the busy road before cocking the arrow towards a populated construction site, while builders inside warned him not to release the loaded arrow.

The man ignored the warnings and carefully aimed the dangerous projectile weapon at a crane, with an operator inside, and fired, resulting in a loud clang of metal alongside a chorus of outrage from shocked onlookers.

“If I shot it ten times it might go through,” the man told the worker inside the crane.” “I’ll get a new one, alright?”

The 47-year-old man was arrested in a front Yard on Carrington Rd by police and was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.

Police seized a compound bow and other items at the scene and are urging any witnesses or people with dash cam footage to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
