Man, 23, charged over underworld double murder of Salim and Toufik Hamze in Guildford

A man has been in court for his alleged role in the murder of a Hamze father and son in 2021. It’s the fourth arrest made in connection with the double shooting.

A man has been charged for his alleged role in the murder of a Hamze father and son in Guildford in 2021.

Sagar Sagar, 23, was arrested on Wednesday over his alleged involved in the double murder of teenage gangster Salim Hamze, 18, and his innocent father Toufik, 64.

Detectives attached to State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad carried out a search warrant at a home on Inkerman St in Granville about 6am.

They seized a car and other items relevant to the ongoing investigation under Strike Force Ormerod.

He was taken to Merrylands police station and charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder, two counts of receive property/theft of more than $5000 and participate in criminal group.

He was refused bail until his case was mentioned at Parramatta Local Court later on Wednesday, when it was adjourned until July 13.

In papers tendered to the court, police alleged Sagar, of Granville, “did receive, harbour, maintain and assist Suliman Hamza” between October 20, 2021 and December 6 last year.

In November, Hamza was charged with two counts of murder and knowingly/recklessly directing criminal group assisting in crime following the death of the Hamzes.

Sagar was charged with participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity between October 5, 2021 and December 6 last year.

He allegedly received a stolen white Hyundai Santa Fe at Granville and a black Holden Captiva between August 2021 and July last year.

Sagar did not apply for bail on Wednesday and it was refused.

He is the fourth person to be arrested over alleged roles in the double shooting that shocked Sydney.

The three other men – aged 20, 25 and 18 – all remain before the courts.

Investigations under Strike Force Ormerod continue.
