A man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after falling from a third-floor balcony onto his truck on the Northern Beaches.

NSW Ambulance responded to reports of a man, in his 20s, who fell from a balcony on Holborn Ave in Dee Why about 9.10am on Monday.

The Mounties CareFlight Helicopter was also on scene, however, the man was transported by paramedics to Royal North Shore Hospital.

A CareFlight spokesman said paramedics were assisted by one of their critical care doctors to initially treat the man on scene.

Reports indicate the man suffered multiple fractures with chest and leg injuries before he was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
