A multi-vehicle crash involving at least 10 cars in Sydney’s southwest caused traffic chaos on Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the M5 near Henry Lawson Drive in Milperra shortly before 6am following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
All lanes were closed for about 20 minutes, and two of three lanes city-bound were closed for almost three hours, causing traffic chaos.
All citybound lanes reopened as of 8.30am, but the traffic congestion is still heavy.
At its peak, about 7.30am, traffic was still banked back about 12km from Milperra to Macquarie Links on the M5.
By 9am, most of the congestion had cleared from the area and traffic returned to normality.
Drivers have been urged to prepare to merge, reduce speed and exercise caution.
There have been no reports of any injury.
More to come.
