GRAB an instrument, get your thinking caps on and write a song for this year's Lismore Young Songwriters Competition.
Entries open on February 11, and a panel of judges will choose the winners during Youth Week in April.
Young people encouraged to write original music, which they will then perform in front of their friends, family and other musicians.
Lismore City Council's youth and community development officer, Lizette Twisleton, said the competition helped to foster contacts between working musicians and young people striving to break into the industry.
Categories include folk/country, hip hop, rock/indie, punk/metal and pop.
There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, such as recording time at SAE, microphones, leads, a BOSE sound system and a professional photo shoot.
For more information phone Lizette on 1300 87 83 87, email her at Lizette.Twisleton@lismore.nsw.gov.au or check out the Lismore Young Songwriters Competition Facebook page.
