Wanted man Shonee Dillon Allston faces Casino court after being arrested by police at Ballina

A man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested at a Ballina property after quite a tussle with police. Here’s how it played out.

A West Ballina man wanted by police on multiple warrants was arrested at a Ballina property after he tried to flee in a Mercedes and resisted arrest while carrying a 20cm knife.

Shonee Dillon Allston faced Casino Local Court on Wednesday.

He pleaded guilty to common assault, fail to appear in accordance with bail, carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, two counts of police pursuit not stop drive recklessly, and speeding by more than 45kmh.

Allston also entered guilty pleas to four counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.

Police went to a property on Westlands Dr at West Ballina to arrest the 27-year-old unemployed man about 9pm on January 10.

The 27-year-old was wanted on three outstanding warrants for domestic violence offences and resisting police, as well as in relation to a Ballina police chase, according to court documents.

Police approached the property from an adjoining street and they noticed Allston standing in the doorway of a caravan.

Officers approached and Allston ran to a Mercedes Benz parked on the front lawn.

Police went after him and a struggle ensued as the officers tried to stop Allston starting the car.

An officer hopped in the front passenger seat and grabbed Allston’s arm to stop him.

Allston “thrashed about” and struggled violently against police, with the scuffle resulting in all involved tumbling to the ground, police facts reveal.

Police handcuffed Allston after some wrestling and found the knife in his pocket before he was taken to Ballina Police Station.

Allston was bailed to reappear in Casino Local Court on February 9.
