Visitors enticed to stay for another night

VISITORS to the Lismore region will be enticed to stay longer and spend more after yesterday’s launch of the art+food+so much more tourism campaign by council.

VISITORS to the Lismore region will be enticed to stay longer and spend more after yesterday's launch of the art+food+so much more tourism campaign by Lismore City Council.

Council's Tourism and Events manager Mitch Lowe said the $100,000 campaign will promote events including the Lantern Parade, the Lismore Cup, Opera at The Channon, Arts in August, Norpa productions, the North Coast National and the Four-Wheel Drive Caravan and Camping show.

Mr Lowe said council was working with business to put together a special "passport" promoting the deals.

"When people come to Lismore they can go and pick up their passport and pick up some great deals and offers in Lismore and spend more money locally," he said.

"We are expecting upwards of 30,000 people over the next six months attending events, so if they can stay an extra night it will boost the local economy and spending."

The campaign is a partnership between Lismore Tourism and the Lismore Business Panel and Mr Lowe said it aimed to increase the annual estimated tourism spending of $110 million in the Lismore region by $4 million annually.

"We are encouraging businesses to go to our website visitlismore.com.au and click on the promotional campaign deal so they can submit their own offer."

The campaign will kick off in late May and include promotion on TV, social media, print and online advertising.
