Update: Some new faces for Kyogle Council

Kyogle shire has a few new candidates running for council this election. See who made the cut.

2021: a year in review

Kyogle council is a three-ward system made up of three councillors elected from each ward:

– A Ward covers Cawongla, Wadeville and parts of Kyogle.

– B Ward covers Ettrick, Geneva and parts of Kyogle.

– C Ward covers Wiangaree, Grevillia, Woodenbong, Muli Muli, Old Bonalbo, Bonalbo, Tabulam, Mallanganee and Mummulgum.

Kyogle local government election Ward A went uncontested with L-R Janet Wilson, Kylie Thomas and Hayden Doolan declared elected on 4 December.

In Ward A, only three nominations were received for the respective three positions meaning the seat was uncontested.

Councillors Hayden Doolan from Kyogle, Kylie Thomas from Doubtful Creek, and Janet Wilson from Geneva were declared elected on December 4.

Ward B

Current Deputy Mayor John Burley from Horse Station Creek, returns along with Robert Cullen from Afterlee and Maggie May from Kyogle for Ward B.

Ward C:

Current Kyogle Mayor Danielle Mulholland

Current Mayor of Kyogle, Danielle Mulholland, an independent, retains her seat in Ward C.

Tom Cooper from Gorge Creek will join Ward C along with James Murray from Gradys Creek.

Kyogle council will hold an extraordinary meeting on January 5, 2022 where the nine elected councillors will then vote for a mayor and deputy mayor.
