Lismore City Council is in negotiations with a private operator after an unsolicited proposal was received to lease Blakebrook Quarry.

Council will negotiate the details of what the deal with the private operator would look like after Lismore councillors voted to go to a memorandum of understanding on the unsolicited proposal by the private operator.

The negotiations will outline how much Lismore council will get in return for the deal, and a brief will be served to councillors at a future meeting.

There has been no competitive tender process put in place yet, with only one operator under consideration.

The matter has been kept from the public under commercial confidence.

The matter will be dealt with in confidential meetings, and be brought before councillors by staff to be signed off on if the deal is to go ahead.
