Two teens arrested and charged after guns, knife seized in drop bag in Casino

Two 18-year-olds have been charged after reports a man allegedly had a firearm in Casino.

Two 18-year-olds have been charged with possess unauthorised firearm and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority at Lismore Police Station.

Two men have been charged after the seizure of firearms and a knife in NSW’s north.

About 2pm on Monday, police responded to reports of a man suspected of possessing a firearm on Barker St, Casino.

Authorities allege an 18-year-old man left a bag and a guitar case on the street, which were subsequently collected by another man who departed in a black Mazda sedan.

Officers from the Richmond Police District attended the scene and arrested the 18-year-old on Canterbury St, Casino and took him to Lismore Police Station.

Soon afterwards, police found the Mazda sedan on the Bruxner Highway, south of Lismore.

Police arrested an 18-year-old on Barker St.

The vehicle was stopped and the occupants — an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy —were arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station.

Police searched the vehicle and seized a guitar case and a bag containing three unauthorised firearms, ammunition and a large knife.

Police arrested an 18-year-old on Canterbury St following reports of a bag drop, with the bag containing guns, ammo and a large knife.

The two men were charged and refused bail and are due to appear at Grafton Local Court on Tuesday.

When they appeared they were both formally refused bail again, and will appear at Casino Local Court on June 19.

The 16-year-old has been released without charge.

Investigations are ongoing.
