Two major Northern Rivers events have sold out but there’s still plenty to do this weekend across the region

One major new event has seen tickets sell out this week, and tickets have all been snapped for another annual celebration, but there are plenty of other options to keep your family occupied this weekend.

There's plenty to do on the Northern Rivers this weekend.

Tickets to Byron Music Festival have officially sold out.

The inaugural event will be held at Dening Park in Byron Bay on Saturday.

Festival director Nick Sergi said the strong response showed “the need in the community for live music”.

“I am so grateful for how many people have backed us and supported our dream to bring a grassroots, community focused music event back into Byron town,” Mr Sergi said.

“We’ve worked really hard to bring it to life in the most challenging of circumstances and we’re so excited to share it with everyone.”

The event will mark the first music festival to return to the region since Covid hit.

“We’re determined to be as aligned with the original ethos of what Byron Bay is famous for – celebrating community, culture, and nature,” operations manager Monique Hartman said.

“We’ve made every effort to instil that in every area of the event, from our commitment to minimising our environmental footprint, partnering with local businesses, people, and groups, and highlighting the connecting power of music – we certainly cannot be confused for being just another festival.

“There is real meaning and heart behind this. We want to do good for our industry and community.”

Byron Music Festival 2021 has partnered with environmental consultancy group Earthed Consulting and there will be a strict no plastic policy on site.

While you can no longer get tickets to the festival – they won’t be sold at the gates – there’s plenty more to do on the Northern Rivers this weekend.
