The Northern NSW Local Health District will have a COVID vaccination clinic at Bonalbo

The Northern NSW health district is rolling out the clinic in an effort to ensure the vaccine is available to people right across the region.

A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held at Bonalbo on May 13 and 14.
A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held at Bonalbo on May 13 and 14.

A two-day COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held at Bonalbo next week.

People over 50 are being urged to get the jab, Northern NSW Local Health District chief executive, Wayne Jones, said.

“As part of our local COVID-19 response, we are working collaboratively with our partner organisations and general practitioners to ensure that our communities have access to vaccines in line with the rollout program,” he said.

“The MPS plays an important role in providing health services to the Bonalbo and surrounding communities, so it makes sense to utilise the existing facility to provide this clinic.”

The clinic will be held over two days on Thursday and Friday, May 13 and 14, from 8.30am to 3.30pm, at the Bonalbo MPS, Hospital Road, Bonalbo.

The clinic will be offering the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

Given the relatively small number of residents in the local area, community members will not need to book to attend the clinic on the two days.

People should present to the clinic with their Medicare Card and list of any current medications, to discuss with the immunisation staff as part of the required pre-vaccination assessment process.

People should allow about 30-45 minutes for their visit.

The NSW Government allocated $1.6 billion to help tackle the virus in the 2020-21 Budget on top of the $1.3 billion allocated to the COVID-19 health response in 2019-20.
