Kyogle MTB skills course will have you ready to rock off the road

Anyone keen to improve their mountain bike skills is invited to sign up for a Kyogle Club course guaranteed to have you riding dirt trails with confidence and finesse.

An innovative Northern Rivers based mountain bike skills course is taking enrolments for anyone over the age of 12 who wants improve the trail riding confidence and finesse.

The Kyogle MTB Club have announced they are running an eight week mountain bike skills course – and it’s open to anyone of any age.

Club secretary Fiona Kerwin said the course will commence at 9am on Sunday, June 6.

“We have an accredited coach and it’s going to be a fabulous course,” she said.

“It’s not just for youngsters, it’s for anyone over the age of 12 who wants to improve their mountain bike riding.”

Kerwin said the eight week workshop will build your skills and mountain bike knowledge by teaching you the foundations of riding off road.

The course will be led by renown mountain biking coach Doug Milne from Border Reivers MTB.

Kerwin said Kyogle MTB Club have several good quality bikes suitable for teens who are new to mountain biking – simply indicate when you enrol if you need to borrow some wheels.

“While the first session is locked in for Sunday, June 6, 2021 from 9am, after that the day and time can be changed to suit the day and time that suits the group,” Kerwin said.

“Keeping it flexible also means you won’t miss out on a lesson because of bad weather, the session will just be moved to another day.”

Cost includes skills sessions, 12 month Lifestyle membership to AusCycling and Kyogle MTB Club, and insurance.

“For under 18’s Active Kids Vouchers can be used to cover part of the fee,” Kerwin said.

“The fee is $120 concession and $160 for adults.”

And while the course sessions were initially capped at 10 people, Kyogle MTB Club will open up more classes if needed.

“This course is for anyone wanting to get more skilled and confident and if for example, we have more women wanting to do the course, we can run a special class on the same dates,” Kerwin said.

Course participants will initially meet at the carpark of the Kyogle mountain bike trails about 2km up Yongurra Road in Kyogle.
