It was a gut-wrenching loss by 110 points for the Lismore Swans Junior AFL U11 to Burleigh Bombers in Round 4, revealed the Northern Star’s youngest sports reporter, Fynn Henderson.

On Sunday May 16 at Cavanbah Oval, Byron Bay, the U11 Lismore Swans went down to their rivals the Burleigh Bombers, Fynn said.

“It was a great game for the Swans at Cavanbah today (Sunday), they excelled at everything apart from winning, kicking goals, taking marks, hand passing and, um, OK we were obliterated,” he said.

“The score was Lismore 1-0-6 to Burleigh 18-8–116.”

Fynn said nonetheless, the Swans did their utmost to remain positive.

“Sydney-Jack Baker was best on ground for the Swans kicking our only goal and tackling superbly,” Fynn said.

“In the second half, our centre made up of Sonny Corke, Sydney-Jack Baker, Harvey Power, Jonah Hudson-Sheaff, Zac Cohan and Fynn Henderson, tried to keep us alive in the last quarter but the effort came too late.

“The encouragement awards went to Tom Watson and Zack Connolly for their persistence and courageous efforts,” Fynn said.
