THE Nimbin Pool has been closed down after a hole was discovered in the base of the pool over the weekend.

Lismore City Council today announced that the pool has been leaking and that it was currently being de-chlorinated so it could be drained and the damage could be assessed.

The pool was due be closed for the winter period at the end of the Easter school holidays.

A spokeswoman for the council said the pool would not be reopened this season.

"Council will undertake a full assessment of the facility with repairs planned to be undertaken during the off-season in order for the pool to reopen as normal for the 2012/13 summer," she said.
