SPORTING events across the region this weekend have again been affected by the current bad weather.

Lismore City Council's sporting fields will remain closed until Monday, apart from Hepburn and Balzer parks.

These turfs remained open at the time of writing, but faced closure if more rain falls tonight.

A further inspection of council ovals will take place on Monday at noon.

Other council-owned ovals across the region also remain closed.

Anyone wanting further information should visit council websites.

The weather has already affected planned sporting events, with FNC Softball action and soccer matches scheduled for Saturday postponed.

Other activities, including the latest Ballina junior touch competition tonight, are also off.

Players are advised to contact team captains and officials for more information.
