EVANS Head halfback Trevor Bolt is among several key players changing clubs in Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League this season.
He is one of a handful of halfbacks who will make a fresh start somewhere else after signing with the Casino Cougars.
Bolt was the equal leading try-scorer and best halfback in the competition when the Bombers made it as far as the preliminary final in 2015.
He showed some glimpses of that form over the past two seasons and is a match-winner on his day.
Meanwhile, Evans Head five-eighth Nikko Roberts is also leaving this season to play at Mackay.
The Bombers have signed promising Ballina teenager Logan Iverson who has played some first grade games at the Seagulls.
Casino has also lost both its halves from 2017, with five-eighth Roy Bell and halfback Tahne Robinson leaving for other NRRRL clubs.
Bell will reunite with new Mullumbimby coach Dallas Waters at the Giants.
The pair won the Group 2 competition together at South Grafton in 2015 and Waters won a premiership in 2009 at Lower Clarence when he last coached in the NRRRL.
Robinson could be a big loss for the Cougars and he will relish the chance to play behind a big pack at the Tweed Coast Raiders.
He will also get the chance to play under premiership-winning Manly front rower and Clive Churchill medallist Brent Kite, who is the new coach at the Raiders.
The Cougars have also lost young guns Clifton Law and Vinnie Roberts while centre Todd Johnson looks set to return to Sawtell in the Group 2 competition.
Veteran halfback Evan Hickling has been released from Casino after missing the 2017 season and has joined Marist Brothers.
Brothers have lacked a quality playmaker in the halves in recent years and he could be a valuable addition.
Elsewhere, Byron Bay has landed some big signatures with Mitchell Krause returning to the NRRRL after a season in Far North Coast Rugby Union.
Krause represented NSW Country in that time while the Red Devils have also signed Tye Barry and Shaun Hinton who have just come out of the Gold Coast Titans Under-20s.
