A FLOCK of Seagulls will be begging for local rugby league premierships on the playing fields of the Northern Rivers instead of hot chips at the beach this weekend.

The Ballina Seagulls will contest grand finals in an amazing eight grades including Under-10s, Under-11s, Under-12s, Under-13s, Under-14s, Under-15s, reserve grade and first grade.

Only two grades, the Under-16s and Under-18s, missed out on a grand final berth but they both made the semi-finals.

Imagine the squawking if they all win!

It's a pretty good effort," first-grade captain Grant Clements said.

For someone who played juniors with the club and to come back and be involved in this (grand finals), it's good to try to give something back to the club and the town.

You only have to walk down the street to see everyone is behind us."

Club president Bill Wilson is hoping a big crowd turns up not only to support the Seagulls in the senior grades on Sunday, but also the juniors at Byron Bay tomorrow.

We're rapt to be hosting the grand final; it's great for the town and the club," he said.

But it's absolutely sensational to see the depth coming through in all the grades."

The Under-10s, Under-11s, Under-14s and Under-15s have recorded only one loss each this season, while the Under-12s and Under-13s have each lost only twice.

Reserve grade are the defending premiers and have lost only a handful of games, while first grade finished one point behind minor premiers Mullumbimby.
