Skateboarding skill clinics for kids

NORTHERN Rivers kids will get the chance to improve their skateboarding skills at two clinics on the weekend.

NORTHERN Rivers kids will get the chance to improve their skateboarding skills at two clinics on the weekend.

Lismore City Council and Youth Connections North Coast have organised for Skateboarding Australia to conduct skills clinics at Goonellabah Youth Plaza on Saturday and Nimbin Skate Park on Sunday, 9am-5pm.

Lismore City Council youth and community development officer Lizette Twisleton said local kids will learn to use Northern Rivers skate parks safely.

"The aim of it is to give young people the skills and confidence to ride skateboards safely so they don't fall or injure themselves," she said.

"Skateboarding Australia teaches kids about park etiquette, like when it's ok to drop in, and how to do new tricks.

"Whatever their skill level is, Skateboarding Australia takes them to the next level."

On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, informal skateboarding competitions will be held after the clinics and prizes given out for the best tricks.
