A Northern Rivers man, who pleaded guilty to threatening a woman with a knife and then raping her, will soon face sentencing.

The Tweed Heads man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, fronted Lismore District Court on Friday, June 2.

He was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and aggravated sexual intercourse without consent.

The charges relate to events that took place in early March 2020 in Tweed Heads South and all involve the same victim.

During his Friday appearance, the court heard the man threatened to inflict actual bodily harm on the woman with a knife prior to the rape.

He has pleaded guilty to all three charges.

The Crown prosecutor handed up five pages of agreed facts and the court also heard the man’s solicitor Paul Cranney intended to submit a psychologist review.

Given that, the matter was adjourned for sentencing on September 29.
