Richmond Police appeal for information after alleged bashing, robbery in Goonellabah

Police believe this pair might have information after a man was allegedly attacked and robbed while sleeping in his car in the Lismore area.

Police are appealing for information after a man was allegedly assaulted and robbed while he slept in his car in Goonellabah.

Richmond Police District was told a 59-year-old man was sleeping in the vehicle when an unknown man and woman approached about 5.30am on Sunday, December 11 last year.

The pair allegedly attacked and robbed the man, taking his wallet, phone and car keys.

A bystander helped get the alleged victim to Lismore Base Hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries.

It’s alleged an unknown male assailant later returned and stole the car, accompanied by another man.

The car was found destroyed by fire on Hayes St, Goonellabah later that day.

Investigators have now released images of two people who “might be able to assist with the investigation”.

The first man is described as caucasian in appearance and aged in hi

s early 20s, with a solid build and tattoos on his right shin. He was wearing a black hoodie, cream coloured shorts, a black baseball cap and white sneakers.

The other man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, aged in his early 20s, with a thin build, short black hair and facial hair. He was wearing a black Adidas T-shirt with white stripes on the sleeves, long black pants and black/grey sneakers.

Police have urged anyone with information or who can identify the men to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online.
